F.Dick Utility knives, also known as all-purpose knives, are knives for universal use in the kitchen. The blade length can vary. However, the blade usually has a distinctive feature, such as a serrated edge or a kullenschliff. The serrated edge is ideal for cutting crusts (e.g. of bread) or hard shells (e.g. of pineapples). The indentations in the blade, the so-called kullenschliff, reduces the adhesion of food to the blade. This is especially important with fatty foods.
